How to use your style to benefit you ๐Ÿ‘”๐Ÿ’˜๐Ÿ’ต

Or, How to show people you love kittens ๐Ÿฑ in 0.1 seconds without saying a word

Why 0.1 seconds? Because thatโ€™s the amount of time you have to make a good impression.

Why the love of kittens? Because anyone who loves kittens is a darn good person.

The problem we all face is that first impressions are made quickly and are formed by physical attributes. They lead the way in divulging information about us to others.

Others that we may want to influence.

The problem with first impressions

A first impression is made up of your body language, your actions, your words and your appearance.

“But, the order in which we get to present those aspects is important because it rarely correlates with the order in which importance should be attributed.”

Action: Would you agree that if someone does something for you it is more powerful than if they just say it?

Words: A declaration at least shows intent and we admire those who speak up more than those who stand by.

Body Language: How we stand may hint at our purpose.

Style: How we dress should have no bearing on what impression people form. But it does.

Perversely, the order of significance is inverted. We usually see someoneโ€™s style and stance before we hear their words and receive benefit from their actions.

“So, it begins with our appearance.”

If a first impression is made in 0.1 seconds our style is going to have more impact than it should and so we must guide it in acting as the best ambassador for our true intentions.

If that wasn’t bad enough unfortunately first impressions are very sticky. By that I mean they are very hard to undo

In a study which gave descriptive information about a participant to observers they still used physical cues to make their judgement about the targetโ€™s personality and capability.

“It seems we are too reliant on these physical cues to give way to other types of data.”

I started watchcoat to help other men take control of their style so that their static cues no longer betrayed them.

I teach in small daily manageable messages so that it’s not overwhelming.

The best bit about this whole thing is that what I teach worked 10 years ago and it will work 10 years from now.

If you’re like me and you want to look good but you want it to be easy then I can help you.

I’ve gone into the most minute detail of every element so I can eliminate what doesn’t work and keep what does to create default garments
